Volunteer work is worthwhile for all parties involved and can bring great personal reward to the volunteer, in particular, as they gain practical experience and skills as well as an initial insight into the world of work. Aside from this, volunteers also have the opportunity to integrate volunteering into their lives in a meaningful way. As the deployment organisation, we also benefit from the committed support of volunteers who bring a breath of fresh air and impetus to the organisation from outside.
The Federal Volunteer Service in PEDIA is an opportunity for people to get involved in areas such as education and integration for the common good, in a way that is unrelated to work and school, and it offers volunteers professional orientation.
The new Federal Volunteer Service is open to everyone across all generations. The only requirement is that the volunteer is in full-time compulsory education. This creates new opportunities and prospects for people over the age of 27.
The Federal Volunteer Service in our organisation is offered at the international level. This means that our volunteers are exclusively from abroad. The prerequisite for volunteers is that they have a residence permit entitling them to work. In principle, volunteers from abroad may also be granted a residence permit specifically for participation in the Federal Volunteer Service.

The volunteer service always starts in March and lasts 12 months. Up to the age of 27 years, this service is generally done on a full-time basis.
Federal Volunteer Service may not be carried out as part of vocational training, and it should not be carried out with the intention of gainful employment. No school-leaving certificate or completed vocational training are required.
We support and incentivise your commitment.
Volunteers receive pocket money during their service. Accommodation and meals can be provided or reimbursed in the form of monetary compensation. Volunteers are also generally covered by statutory social insurance. The contributions for health, long-term care, unemployment, pension and accident insurance are paid by the institution or the deployment organisation. After completing their service, volunteers receive a certificate for the service they have provided as well as a qualified certificate stating the duration of their commitment and setting out their work and achievements.
